Iron & Wine Jay Leno Breaking Dawn Tonight ShowLast night on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Iron & Wine performed “Flightless Bird, American Mouth” from the Breaking Dawn Soundtrack and now you can watch it online!

Fast forward to about 38:30 into the video, and you’ll see Sam Beam work his magic with his angelic voice.

The song was on the original Twilight soundtrack and the version used for Breaking Dawn Part 1 is the new “Wedding Version” recorded specially for the movie.

Needless to say, it still sounds gorgeous! Always a treat to see him play live-I’ve had the pleasure a couple of times in person!

    I love this song soooooo much! It actually makes me teary eyed whenever I hear it or play it….It Will Rain makes me teary eyes too. Simply a beautiful song….fell in love with it from Twilight soundtrack.

    Wonderful song – loved it when they danced to it in the gazebo at the prom and it was so romantic when they played it again while vowing to love one another for as long as they both shall live. ~~~~~ Sigh ~~~~~

    Absolutely beautiful. Gives me goosebumps. :) The soundtrack from Twilight will forever be my favorite. It is so unique. I still listen to that soundtrack. Been listening to it for 3 years, and I still adore it.

    You know what we should do, everyone that has gone to see the movie should write about where in the movie (what scene) does each song from the sound track goes at, and maybe what they think the songs mean or from who’s perspective. It was such an emotional movie that I think each song is definitely reminiscent of a character’s perspective or a plot from the book, it just definitely had to be written thinking of something from the story.

    I’ll start:
    My favorite song was “Turning Page” by Sleeping at Last. It was played during the sex scene while Edward and Bella where making love on the beautiful (and soon to be very destroyed) white bed from Isle Esme. The song has such a deep meaning for them. I believe it had to be written from Edward’s perspective and in the scene it feels as if he’s just giving her his entire soul, how he’s letting go of all his past and the dark memories of his existence as a vampires (as we see him explaining before going to his bachelor party) and truly becoming one with his wife. It truly is making love at its most pure essence. I love how they both feel so nervous and vulnerable and how when he breaks the headboard she consoles him by telling him is okay, is as if she’s giving him an invitation to lose himself and to truly feel. The song itself ads so much emotion to an already emotional scene. With every touch, every caress, every kiss both their hearts heal, everything they’ve been through during their whole lives and during their times together is truly overcome there.

    Me too!! The Twilight soundtrack will never get old to me. I still blast Decode and Flightless Bird in my car and it takes me back to the movie and I get chills! I especially love the score and that eerie guitar music from Twilight. LOVE Carter Burwell!!

    You have given a perfect description of the song and meaning! So beautiful! You really put it into words perfectly! It totally fits Edward and his love for Bella. I love how they played the song Cold while the Cullens were all standing guard walking around inside the house. That song fit in great at that moment and then Carlisle explained to Bella about her situation and they continued the lyrics Cold while she layer there alone after Edward was angry and left. There are so many good parts with great songs! I’m looking forward to the next movie and soundtrack!

    I loved that whole montage soo much!! He was breathtaking when he sits up on the bed and rolls over! I still think he was pretending to snore so she’d give up!! LOL!! I play that song over and over and think of them at the waterfall and in the jungle…he’s such a beast
