Stephenie Meyer “Deeply Annoyed” at Lionsgate Suggesting They’d Like More Twilight Films

A Variety reporter sent out a tweet suggesting that Stephenie Meyer didn’t like the idea of Lionsgate pimping out her franchise on a recent analyst call.

As long as we’re on topic: Stephenie Meyer was deeply annoyed that LG brass said they’d do more TWILIGHT pics. She has no such intention.

This shouldn’t come as a huge shock, as it’s clear from Stephenie Meyer’s recent updates that she’s keeping very busy on new projects post-Twilight. If this info from Variety reporter Josh Dickey is correct, and there’s no reason to think not, I support Stephenie completely.

More Twilight would be nice, but if Stephenie Meyer’s heart isn’t in the writing it would only taint our memories of the originals.

If she ever decides to write more Twilight, it should be because there is more story to be told, not because Lionsgate wants to make investors happy.

Lionsgate only claimed the relatively innocuous “if she (Meyer) wishes to do it, we’ll be there to support her” during the analyst call. This suggests that if Stephenie was “deeply annoyed” she may have made it unequivocally clear to the studio there won’t be a fifth book. Either that, or she simply doesn’t want the pressure of investor expectations riding her back during the creative process. Who would?

Personally I dont blame Stephanie for being annoyed for having these dimwits put pressure on her this way. Its totally not fair. Why dont Lions Gate do themselves a favor and just leave her alone let her be let her produce “Austenland” and support “The Host” (which seems interesting by the way) and for the love of God if there is a God LET HER FINNISH MIDNIGHT SUN IN PEACE!!!!!! I am a big Gilmore Girls fan, but the last season was TERRIBLE because the show’s main writers and producers had left and it just wasn’t the same after that. At this rate, the actors will have aged a bit too much for continuing their roles. If Stephenie writes more, super. That doesn’t mean that you have to adapt it. I would love to have a movie version of Midnight Sun, but Rob already looks older than he did in Twilight and it’s only been 3 years…

I loved the way breaking dawn wrapped it all up, so i wouldnt want it to get ruined just for money. I would however just love to see a finished midnight sun

Everyone here knows how much I adore Twilight, but Twilight is SUPPOSED to end with Breaking Dawn Part 2. That’s it, that’s all. It’s like ripping a band-aid off; all of us here love this saga, and we know the end is coming with BD2. Once that movie is released, then that’s it, that’s the end, like ripping a band-aid off. But if Lionsgate keeps talking about continuing it and all this crap, it’s just gonna draw the whole thing out longer, and it’s gonna make us more upset. The only exception is Midnight Sun, which is not a continuation of these series — it’s just from a different point of view, not meant to be a movie.

I love these books and movies, but everything has to come to an end and we have to move on; they can’t keep drawing it out, or else Twilight will end on a low note, not a high note.
And Twilight deserves to end on a high note.

I don’t think Rob and Kristen would continue with another movie … which would be a recast. Don’t think it would ever work out in the end.

I swear to God I cannot believe how incredibly selfish Lionsgate is being for pressuring Stephanie Meyer to writing another book when she has so much on her plate already and alot more that she wants to do at some point without disturbance, so as far as I know these people can go shove it up their asses and F*** off from Stephanie . She didnt ask for this to happen . She doesnt has to work for you Lions Gate. Go focus on your own movie franchise and let the three stooges aka Summit finish up with breaking dawn part 2 and let it be

Exactly. I wouldn’t be completely opposed to the idea of a reboot through a new movies or TV, but let at least 10 years pass. I’d be annoyed, but willing to give the benefit of the doubt.

Now, as for continuing after BD, that’s just not going to happen, at least not now. Steph is busy, doesn’t like being pressured into writing, and wants a break from vampires. The actors deserve to move on too. We all love this series but we need to let it bow out gracefully.

LG’s doesn’t seem to get SM, she obviously doesn’t cave into pressure, if she could be pressured, the fans would have a completed MS by now.

Your right the saga does deserve to end on a high we all love it so much but even we can see that the end should be The End! (even though it pained me to put the book down finished!) However, I haven’t got the movie companion infront of me (at work!), but I’m sure in the interview section with SM in the last question she says she ended BD in a happily everafter way, but left it open to come back to in the future! Anybody else remember that part? I can see what she means…there’s loads of scope to expand the story! but I was thinking maybe for the next generation ie. when my daughter has a daughter if you know what I mean?!

I want to see Jacob and Nessie’s story but even if she does write it I don’t know how they’d go about bringing that on screen. Would they wait for McKenzie to turn 18? But then Taylor would look too old. And he may not even wanna do another Twilight movie.

Even if they never make a movie, I still want to read about Jacob and Nessie!!

# 1 Robert was 21 not 17 when the franciase started… #2 LG’s bought Summit expecting to make the same money they made from the Twilight movies. What the hell is wrong with them? I also agree with you about the Gilmore Girls…
I say let these films that made them tons of money and more to come with the last movie rest in peace and let the fans that support the movies and the actors/actress move on to do other things.

Let SM decide down the road if she wants to continue with the series without pressure. Aren’t LG putting their money on THG’s to take over the Twilight madness and make them money?

If this report is true, my opinion is that Stephenie Meyer needs to get over herself. As a Twilight fan, bring on more freaking Twilight. I want more books, more story and hell freaking yeah I want more movies.

Don’t get your panties in a wad because a movie company says, “Yes we would make more if YOU wanted to write more books.” Get over it.

I am the biggest Twihard from Azerbaijan. First of all, I want to apologize for my English, my English is not very good. And I think, that Stephenie is absolutely right. Twiligh story ends with Breaking Dawn. In some interviews she said that, she can be continue the story, but it can be the story about Jacob and Nessie and this story can be telling by Lia or Renesme, becouse Bella and Edwards story has already finished. I support Stephenie in her thoughts.

I guess LG and Summit are a great team together. They’re both money hungry vulchers. Now LG wants to try and dig their hands into the pockets of all of us, true Twi-fans. I think it’s disgusting. I really do hope SM feels this way. And IF she ever does another book she should venture away from LG/Scummit. We all know she has enough money to start her own production company. I’m just sayin…….

I would love to see a completely new book on Renessmee and Jacob, without much of the original cast in the new book. Some touch on them as they are family, but a focus on these two as a grown(growing) up couple would be really cool.

I am a huge fan, completely fell in love with the story from beginning to end. And like any story, it needs to end.

If SM wanted to anything Twilight related afterwards, please finish Midnight Sun!!!!!!

It’s not about using her work. It’s about making as much money as they can. Stephenie is smart enough to see that and won’t let herself be further exploited.

twilight is a great story. the story should go on. hopeful it will. stephine meyer hopeful will write a renesmee and jacob story with edward and bella. with the cullens and charlie swan rensemee’s grandfather. twilight really could go one at least one more book if stephine really thinks about it very hard.

Get over herself? Really? She has been working with Summit for years now. She knows how greedy they are. How can you even speak about her like that, when she’s the one who gave us these great stories? It’s her story. She can say whatever she wants to say about it.
She’s deeply annoyed because she knows that that’s EXACTLY what Lionsgate wants. More story = more money and that’s it. She’s dealt with people like that now for 4 years. I would be annoyed too. Plus, Rob, Kristen and Taylor are done with Twilight. They would never return to it; they’re getting too old to play the parts. To continue Twilight with more movies (which would be crap because of different actors) is just plain stupid. We have to respect the fact that Stephenie is done with vampires for a while.

wow i couldnt have said it better! im obsessed with twilight and i am SO sad to see it end but i don’t feel like it would be right to write more. i think, as characters, edward and bella’s story is finished and had a nice end to it. it is going to be SO painful to see it end but it is meant to end.

you guys have already said every thing. so yeah. i think that unless sm SOMEHOW comes up with this perfect extra book story thing, then the saga unfortunately must end with bdp2. its the way it is. but as a few of you have said, it has to end some where.
