I hope I don’t see right. Is that dog collar thing on the dog’s throat such an elictronical device whichs sends out shocks if the dog isn’t obeying. That would be the last thing I thought Niki would do. What kind of dog school is that! And a choke chain, too! Maybe she shouldn’t have such a dog if she can’t handle him without such means. Poor dog!

Anyone know what’s around the dogs neck? I hope it’s not what you said….that’s not good at all. :(

If Nikki is using a professional training tool such as a “shock” collar it may be she has a very high strung dog and it was given to her by the trainer as a temporary tool to use in training; a choke chain collar is also used during training but not forever. It’s a lovely picture and I’m sure that Nikki is providing the best training for her dog. Too bad that some people don’t know enough about training for specific behaviors to understand that there is a time and place for all types of training.

I work with dogs and the shock collar the dog is wearing only gives a mild shock to help keep him from barking and the pinch collar is to keep him from pulling. Both things are proper obedience tools considering that it is a big German Shepherd and since she is in obedience school the dog is in good hands.

This picture makes me sad and a bit angry. Why do so many americans insist on using those abusive collars!  There are more friendly and effectiv ways to teach a dog to behave!

In my country both those collars are strictly prohibited by law and for that I am greatful.

And yes I am also a proffessional dog trainer and compete a lot to and I have NEVER had to use anything like that!

I have 5 dogs and have NEVER used a collar on any of them and never will. When I take them to the groomers or vet they wear a body harness.

    I ♥ my furry babies.

Who’s training who in this pic? LOL

Be restassured that I have knowledge how to train dogs. There is never a time to use such things. There are more than enough other proper methods to train an even strong willed dog, believe me! The only thing is that you train consequently and that you have time for your dog. I don’t know if she can take the dog with her but I don’t think she can working in many places on sets. The dog is like a child that needs persistence. As I said before, I would not have such a dog if I can’t handle it.

    Right you are.

As I said below! We play Flyball with our dog and believe me we have 4 teams with 6 – 8 dogs each in our club. When we train there are the male dogs friendly, sometimes you must take a female between two males in the team. Obidience is the basic for doing that sport and the dogs love it. We do train with treats, with clicker training and a lot of exercise and time. And we have all sorts of dogs, Australian shepherds, German shepherds, terrier, labradors, retriever. Every race is a little bit different, every dog is different. Some love to play, some love to eat :) I’m very happy that at least some people understand that those methods are not professional training tools but show only how helpless some so called trainers are.

    she looks gorgeous.

Not all Americans do that. I would never put those collars on my animals! A lot of people here think it’s sick and abusive, I don’t know why it’s allowed, because other than that, we have really laws against animal abuse.

Animal cruelty! They should ban them electrical shock collars! You wouldn’t put it on a baby if the baby started crying! So why should animals be different?
