Welcome to the BreakingDawnMovie.org’s Community Re-read!

While we impatiently wait for Breaking Dawn Part 1 to be released, we continue with our highly-popular, Community Re-Read!

Every Tuesday & Friday, I’ll post a breakdown for each chapter in the book, counting down the days until the official release of the film on November 18th. Let’s get started, dig out your copy of Breaking Dawn, read the chapters together with us, and discuss anything you may find of interest that you might have missed the first or twentieth time around. Let’s continue our journey into FOREVER. 2 WEEKS TO GO!!

Chapter 15: Tick Tock Tick Tock Tick Tock

“For a minute I tried to look at her from a distance, to separate myself from the pull. I knew it wasn’t my imagination that my need for her was stronger than ever. Why was that? Because she was dying? Or knowing that if she didn’t, still-best case scenario-she’d be changing into something else that i wouldn’t know or understand?”

Unfortunately, these few chapters aren’t really jaw dropping. Like the title says tick tock, we basically are waiting around for Bella to die. However the only thing that saves us is Jacob and Rosalie. These two are a riot! But just as we get bored…Jacob once again saves the day and says something about being drawn to Bella and her baby in a way he cannot explain…hmmm.

Pg. 290* We skip a few pages, and into Seth and Jake’s convo Jacob learns that Bella has been talking to her dad,Charlie!    She’s in a good mood, though. She was chatting with Charlie, laughing and all-  Charlie! What?! What do you mean, she was talking to Charlie?! Now Seth’s pace stuttered; my fury surprised him. Guess he calls every day to talk to her. Sometimes her mom calls, too. Bella sounds so much better now, so she was reassuring him that she was on the mend-  On the mend? What the hell are they thinking?!  Get Charlie’s hopes up just so that he can be destroyed even worse when she dies? She might not die, Seth thought quietly. I took a deep breath, trying to calm myself.  Seth. Even if she pulls through, she’s not doing it human. She knows that, and so do the rest of them. If she doesn’t die, she’s going to have to do a pretty convincing impersonation of a corpse, kid.  Think it’s Bella’s idea. No one said anything, but Edward’s face kinda went right along with what you’re thinking now. We ran in silence for a few minutes. I started off along a new line, probing south. Bella asked me to ask you to stop by. Alice wants you, too. She says she’s tired of hanging out in the attic like the vampire bat in the belfry.

Pg. 293-296 *Jake walks in the Cullen home like he lives there, lol. Bella is in the bathroom with Rose and Alice is way to happy to see Jacob. Bella returns and is overjoyed that Jacob came to visit her, which is annoying to me, but whatever. Like I said not much going on but Jake and Rose sure do make you wish you were a Cullen right about now, lol.   “Rosalie, why don’t you get Jacob something from the kitchen?” Alice said. She was invisible now, sitting quietly behind the back of the sofa. Rosalie stared at the place Alice’s voice had come from in disbelief.  “Thanks, anyway, Alice, but I don’t think I’d want to eat something Blondie’s spit in. I’d bet my system wouldn’t take too kindly to venom.” “Rosalie would never embarrass Esme by displaying such a lack of hospitality.” “Of course not.” Blondie said in a sugar-sweet voice that I immediately distrusted. She got up and breezed out of the room. “You’d tell me if she poisoned it, right?” I asked. “Yes.” Edward promised.  There was a lot of banging in the kitchen, and-weirdly- the sound of metal pretesting as it was abused. Rosalie was back before I could think much more about it. With a pleased smirk, she set a silver bowl on the floor next to me. “Enjoy, mongrel.”  It had once probably been a big mixing bowl, but she’s bent the bowl back in on itself until it was shaped almost exactly like a dog dish. I had to be impressed with her quick craftsmanship. And her attention to detail. She’s scratched the word Fido into the side. Excellent handwriting.   * HAAAAAAAAAAA    Because the food looked pretty good-steak, no less, and a big baked potato with all the fixings-I told her, “Thanks, Blondie.” She snorted. “Hey do you know what you call a blonde with a brain? A golden retriever.” “I’ve heard that one, too.” she said, no longer smiling. “So…um…what’s the, er, date? You know, the due date for the little monster.” “I don’t know. Not exactly. Obviously we’re not going with the ninth-month model here, and we can’t get an ultrasound, so Carlisle is guesstimating from how big I am. One centimeter for every week. I was thirty this morning, and I’ve been gaining about two centimeters a day, sometimes more.” Funny how having a deadline made it harder to think about leaving, or having her leave. I was glad Seth brought that up, so I knew they were staying here. It would be intolerable, wondering if they were about to go, to take away one or two or three of those four days. My four days. Also funny how, even knowing that it was almost over, the hold she had on me only got harder to break. Almost like it was related to her expanding belly-as if by getting bigger, she was gaining gravitational force.

Pg. 297-304   “Can I ask you something?” I asked. “Of course.” “Why do you want me here? Seth could keep you warm, and he’s probably easier to be around, happy little punk. But when I walk in the door, you smile like I’m your favorite person in the world.” “You’re one of them.” “That sucks, you know.” “Yeah. Sorry. It feels…complete when you’re here, Jacob. Like all my family is together. I mean, I guess that’s what its like-I’ve never had a big family before now. It’s nice. But it’s just not whole unless you’re here.” “I’ll never be apart of your family, Bella.” “You’ve always been a part of my family. You’re supposed to be a part of my life-I can feel that, and so can you.” Her voice trailed off, and the frown on her face relaxed until it was just a little pucker at the corner of her lips. I waited for her to pour some more lemon juice into my paper cuts, but then a soft snore came from the back of her throat. “She’s exhausted,” Edward murmured. Occasionally the mind-reading thing saved time. For example, maybe I wouldn’t have to make a big production out of the accusation about what was going on with Charlie. That mess. “Yes,” he agreed. “It’s not a good idea.”“Then why?” “She can’t bear his anxiety.”“So it’s better-“ “No. It’s not better. Bu tI’m not going to force her to do anything that makes her unhappy now. She’s sure she’s going to live,” Edward said. “But not human,” I protested. “No, not human. But she hopes to see Charlie again, anyway.” Oh this just got better and better. “See Charlie,” I finally looked at him, my eyes bugging. “Afterwards. See Charlie when she’s all sparkly white with the bright red eyes. I’m not a bloodsucker, so maybe I’m missing something, but Charlie seems like kind of a strange choice for her first meal.” Edward sighed.“She knows she won’t be able to be near him for at least a year. She thinks she can stall. Tell Charlie she has to go to a special hospital on the other side of the world. Keep in contact through phone calls.” “That’s insane.” “Yes.” “Charlie’snot stupid. Even if she doesn’t kill him, he’s going to notice a difference.” “She’s sort of banking on that.” I continued to stare, waiting for him to explain. “She wouldn’t be aging, of course, so that would set a time limit, even if Charlie accepted whatever excuse she  comes up with for the change. Do you remember when you tried to tell her about your transformation? How you made her guess?”  My free hand flexed into a fist. “She told you about that?”  *Sidebar-oh please Jacob like Bella hasn’t blabbed her fat mouth to you about tons of Cullen secrets that frankly I don’t think were her place to tell!     “Yes, she was explaining her…idea. You see, she’s not allowed to tell Charlie the truth-it would be very dangerous for him. But he’s a smart, practical man, She thinks he’ll come up with his own explanation. He’ll make some wrong assumption about us, like she did in the beginning, and we’ll go along with it. She thinks she’ll be able to see him…from time to time.” “Insane,” I repeated. “Yes.” Agreed again. Which made me think that he probably wasn’t expecting her to live to try out her crazy plan. Placating her, so that she could be happy for a little while longer. Like four more days. “Four days?” I asked. “Approximately.” “Then what?” I thought about what Bella had said. About the thing being wrapped up nice and tight in something strong. How did it get out?  “From what research we’ve been able to do, it would appear the creatures use their own teeth to escape the womb.” He whispered. I had to pause to swallow back the bile.“That’s why you haven’t seen Jasper and Emmett around. That’s what Carlisle is doing now. There was a woman we encountered in South America. She’s been raised in the traditions of her people. She’d herd warnings about such creatures, old stories that had been passed down.” “What were the warnings?” I whispered. “That the creature must be killed immediately. Before it could gain too much strength.” “What did the stories say about the…mothers?” It was Rosalie-who’d been so still and quiet since Bella’d fallen asleep that I’d nearly forgotten her-who answered. “Of course there were no survivors.”  She said. No survivors, blunt and uncaring. “None of them have what this baby has-caregivers with an idea of what the baby needs, who try to meet those needs. A doctor with a totally unique knowledge of vampire nature. A plan in place to deliver the baby as safely as possible. Venom that will repair anything that goes wrong. The baby will be fine. And those other mothers would probably survived if they’d had that-if they even existed in the first place. Something I’m not convinced of.” The baby, the baby. Like that was all that mattered. Bella’s life was a minor detail to her-easy to blow off. Edward’s face went white as snow. His hands curved into claws. Totally egotistical and indifferent, Rosalie twisted in her chair so that her back was to him. He leaned forward, shifting into a  crouch. Allow me,  I suggested. He paused, raising one eyebrow. Silently, I lifted my doggy bowl off the floor. Then with a quick, powerful flip of my wrist, I threw it into the back of Blondie’s head so hard that-with an earsplitting bang-it smashed flat before it ricocheted across the room and snapped the round top piece off the thick newel post at the foot of the stairs. “Dumb blonde,” I muttered. Rosalie turned her head slowly, and her eyes were blazing. “You. Got. Food. In. My. Hair.” That did it. I pulled away from Bella so that I wouldn’t shake her, and laughed so hard that tears ran down my face. From behind the couch, I heard Alice’s tinkling laugh join in. I wondered why Rosalie didn’t spring. I sort of expected it. “I’m not going to forget this, dog.” Rosalie hissed. “S’not so hard to erase a blonde’s memory, Just blow in her ear.” “Get some new jokes.” She snapped.

*Hilarious!!! That BETTER be in the movie too! What’s with freaky Alice all of a sudden? Ok I get it she has a headache but to be on the floor behind a couch? Come on now! So what was your favorite part in this chapter? Any new theories? Only 4 more chapters to go!

I know Rose was not exactly the most popular character but I was wondering if it is possible to see her from a different light.

I think it is not entirely impossible to believe that she had made a pack with Bella with the understanding that once Bella dies, she would assume the role as the mother. Rose herself lacked the imagination and conviction that Bella had, she did not beleive Bella would survive. With that in mind, her detached attitude is understandable. She did not want to form an emotional bond with someone who she believed was going to die very soon, and instead, she focused on her responsibility of her future role. Does that make sense?

  • ifonly2011

Yay! Another chapter! Another day closer :) can’t wait to re-read but will have to do so later….I want to beable to concentrate!!!!

  • Manus

no, she just wanted the baby

  • Lu :)SPIDERFLIPPY&LIZZYMsBLING

I don’t think this is really relevant to this chapter as such, but I’ve always wondered what Edward would do if he wasn’t able to save Bella when she gave birth.
Would he go to the volturi and die? or would he stay alive for his daughter? Because he does love her. Hmm..

  • Guest

That’s how I see it. I don’t think she’s the monster everyone else seems to think she is. She made a pretty good point that, because they were being proactive, Bella just might pull through. But, in the event that Bella,  doesn’t make it, Rosalie gets to keep the baby. I don’t think she’s necessarily rooting for Bella’s death. She’s not that heartless.
Honestly, Rosalie is the only reason the baby makes it to full term, and we all know that Edward will appreciate that later (and Jacob, too).

  • TMirandathevampgirl

Ah the classic blonde jokes just what we need to have when all this overwhelming drama is surrounding around the baby

  • TMirandathevampgirl

I think for bellas sake he would stay alive just to take care of Nessie and be a single dad :( , and she would always ask him, “Why isn’t my  mama here daddy?”

  • Anonymous

when i first read this, i thought that rosalie was being selfish….when she was alive she was jealous of her friend that had the baby and she wanted one…then when she was changed and found out that she couldn’t have a child it broke her heart….now she see’s bella pregnant , i think that she is living throuh bella’s experience…..i don’t think that she wants bella to die, but this would be her chance to be a mom…..

  • ifonly2011

The end of the chapter IS hilarious! “You.Got.Food.In.My.Hair” had better be in the film! It’s so funny because of how perfect Rosalie is (as Bella herself has described) …not a hair out of place so to have food in it…..LOL I don’t actually like the blonde jokes (having been on the receiving end before!) but I get where they came from and if anyone can get away with them it’s Jake :)
I suppose this chapter does show Rosalie’s selfishness in wanting the baby more than anything, I try to defend her but nope it’s plain to see here. Although have to remember that without Rose, Bella’s pregnancy might not have got this far…so she’s played her part well.
I guess the gravitational pull of Bella and her expanding stomach is hinting towards the imprinting story line….hadn’t noticed it before which is why these re-reads are so good :) and probably where theories regarding the attraction of Bella to Jacob come from…..hmmmm…

  • I<3Headboards

Nikki said in a interview that the dog blow was cut (press interview) so im hoping its in the DVD or she lying lol – Can i just say ur SIDE BAR about bella’s fat mouth had be ROTF lol she really does

Anf can i say that Stephanie must have been smoking something for this book cuz Jacob feeling this “pull” is Nessie we all know – so that means that as she got older in Bella’s belly – he felt it more … AND as a side effect Bella felt it to cuz Nessie is apart of her….. FREAKY thats all i have to say and I feel so bad for Edward cuz he has to watch and listen to this bull

top it all off with Rose – I wish Jacob didnt stop Edward – I dont know how anyone ever  understood Rose – she never even apologized for everything she put this family threw (Edward mostly) cuz thats his wife/mate and she is his “sister” even though she never acted like that – i think

  • HEARTBREAKCHICK

idk they havent really been showing jacobs funny side in the movies so i dont think it will be =( but i totally enjoy book jacob

  • mandy89twilightlover

wow i totally agree that jake fighting with Rose and his jokes so have to be in the movie. so they can show some of his humor. i think it’s interesting i think how he compares his strong feelings towards bella to her growing stomach a bit of foreshadowing of his imprinting .  also i can’t believe that bella actually talked to her dad i mean what if she did end up dead , that would just hurt her parents more i suppose

  • Eli

Am I the only one who doesn’t find those jokes funny?

  • leelee

this chapter makes me dislike rose even more im glad that she is protecting bella but its for the wrong reason ive been looking at different interveiws from the cast lately and i find it funny the one charater i dont like is the one who says she wont see the cast after the movies but the one pic i saw explains why you can see the hate she has for bella in the movies its too funny but sad the rest of the cast gets along so well its like niki is the black sheep as we all say down here where im from lol

Hi Mrs EC meet the girls at the convention…. OMG awesome time…. birthday cake and all. :) )

  • Anonymous

hey everyone!!  only 2 weeks to go!!!  thanks so much for the re-read…I have really enjoyed the opportunity to share others’ opinion and thoughts.

I really believe that Bella chose Rosalie to help her because she knew that Rosalie would fight just as hard as she would for the life of the child.  Bella isn’t stupid..I believe she knew from the moment Edward was against the baby, she might not survive and she was counting on her to carry through.

Bella was a sharp cookie–you”ve got to give her credit.  She has been the one through the series to figure things out.  I was somewhat surprised she didn’t figure out the imprinting thing before it actually happened as well.

I also love the jokes between Jake and Rose…He never backed down.  While I am team Edward all the way, you have to given Jake credit for never leaving Bella’s side and being there until the end.

  • Anonymous

this would require some real thought.  I almost believe he’d try to die and maybe allow Rose to raise that baby.  I don’t know, however, if he’d be able to go through with it.  who knows?

  • Anonymous

In an earlier chapter, Edward made a deal with Jacob that if Bella died, he would be begging Jacob to kill him.  (Jacob assured him that he wouldn’t have to beg for long.)   But that was before Edward knew that “the thing” was going to be a sweet, beautiful, loving, precocious daughter with Bella’s chocolate brown eyes.  So, I think  if Bella had died, Edward would have carried on with raising their precious child, as he knows Bella would have wanted him to.   Might be hard to be constantly reminded of Bella, though.

  • Anonymous

Wow, where is everyone?   At the convention in LA at least 5 of them are… Yes, I just got back from the convention… Met some of my twisisters there…. anyway, I see only two people here that I recongize there names, and I know a great deal of them simple since I have been here for so long.  This chapter may be on the waiting side of  Bella delivering Nessie, but the comedy is right there.

Alice is sitting behind the couch because of the headaches she incurers while around preganant Bella.  Jake make the headaches go away, the closer she is to Jake the better she feels.  More normal like herself.

I too love the banter between Jake and Rose in this chapter, actually this happens to crack me up everytime I read this particular chapter…. “you got food in my hair” I also hope this is in the movie and actually I don’t see how it couldn’t not be in the movie… we will need some lightness at this point….

As far as the pull between Jake and Bella….. it is right there in black and white, and honestly I am sticking with my theory which I have had all along, from New Moon on…. Bella and Jake were meant to be family but as son-in law, brother anything but husband.. Bella was made to be a Cullen from the moment she met Edward, fainted in Biology and we found out that Bella smelled the blood so well described in Twilight….

So many new faces/names — for you newborns go back and read previous re-reads they are very interesting reads… just to pass the time, but no trolls please……

As Mrs EC said just 2 weeks, my goodness how time flies when you are having fun. :))

  • Anonymous

    Seems like it….. Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Anonymous

There is no sense in trying to defend Rose,  its nice that you try but as I stated in one of our previous chapters Rosalie has always wanted something she can’t have, and that is exactly why she resented Bella so much… As she said in the movie Eclipse she envied Bella and was jelous of her because she could have what Rose couldn’t. Children and grandchildren.

And again my theory of the hormones being attracted during the early books between Bella and Jake falls into place here in this chapter…   The Pull- the draw what ever it is has been there all along…. Jake has always been a wolf right…… So, I believe that the wolf gene is the stronger of the sexes, therefore Jake’s gene  is pulling a lot stonger then Bella’s gene.  Make sense?

  • Anonymous

Good question!  I believe that is why Bella had Rose in place to fight for Nessie…. Edward would be so distrought that he wouldn’t be able to take care of Nessie and would want to die.

  • Anonymous

Mrs. EC, I thought it was odd that Alice was sitting on the floor behind the couch, too. ?   This chapter was entertaining to me, even though it’s not jaw-dropping.  I hope they keep the dumb blonde humor in the movie.

When reading BD for the first time, I can remember being so confused by SM’s hinting that Jacob and Bella’s unborn baby had similarities.  What did it mean that Alice could not see either of them, and that they both had accelerated growth, and may have the same number (24) of chromosomes, and  that Bella and Jacob were still attracted to each other even while Bella was sick and pregnant with Edward’s spawn?  Were they trying to say that Jacob was the father, that the baby was going to be a werewolf, or what?    I wasn’t smart enough to figure it out.   The imprinting took me by surprise – didn’t see that one coming!

Two more weeks!  I have my tickets!

  • jite4vanquish

“My four days. Also funny how, even knowing that it was almost over, the hold she had on me only got harder to break. Almost like it was related to her expanding belly-as if by getting bigger, she was gaining gravitational force.”. This is where I made the conclusion of what was happening to Jake and I went ….WHAT?……is SM heading where I think she is in this story? Would she really do that to Jacob? And then I thought, not only would that be crazy, but that would change everything. And if she is really going to do that to Jake, what is it going to do to everybody else? Man, I could not read fast enough now……I kept readin g, stay up late, turning page by page ….I just had to know if I was right. That clever Stephenie….she knows how to hook you in.

  • jite4vanquish

I understand where you are coming from because you probably have a great heart and would want to protect that heart from the inevitable loss of Bella, but I really do not think Rosalie felt that way towards Bella. She was totally protecting that baby from Edward and Carlisle because she wanted a baby no matter what was going to happen to Bella.

  • jite4vanquish

I always wondered the same thing….Bella might have made a deal with him at the last minute to stay alive for him to teach the child all about her and to help the family with his talent to continue protecting the fa,ily….including the baby. If he had gone to the Volturi, Aro would have read his thoughts and the entire family would then have been in danger.

  • jite4vanquish

That wolf gene is strong and hot! Hahaha.

  • jite4vanquish

I am so thrilled for you Lovinggrandmother…..have a good time at the convention. I can’t believe you found some time to post. I am on holiday right now and it is 2:00AM here and I can’t sleep. Or else I would not have even come to this site yet. Miss everyone else’s posts. I agree with you about needing some joking around in the movie about now….all good horror stories have some comedy right before the big horror scene to lighten things up.

  • ifonly2011

Does make sense, ta :) there’s so much to think about and consider!!! I’m not brilliant at reading around the chapter Mrs C has posted so it’s always handy when others post about other books in the series and relate them to the chapter in hand. And lol it’s always something I’ve done, defend the one that no-one likes! But Edwards reactions to Rosalies thoughts over the last few chapters means I’m fighting a losing battle and throwing in the towel! Rose you’re on your own! ;)

  • ifonly2011

Hahaha you’re not wrong there! Certain images spring to mind ;) and it’s too early here in England for that!

  • ifonly2011

Definitely! I love all four of the books, but BD I just couldn’t put down (and still can’t when re-reading even though I know what happens!!) It is all so bizzarre yet so clever! My only critiscism is that it ended too soon and everything tied up too neatly….felt like it was rushed to be finished a little bit, but I think that’s because I just wanted more!!!!!!!!!!

  • jite4vanquish

I agree. I wanted more and stll do.

  • leelee

i think alice was behind the couch because she loves bella and with jacob there is relaxes her because she cant see whats gonna happen so she stayed behind the couch to know what was happening i think alice is one that doesnt hide her emotion she hasnt mastered that so she didnt want bella to see her that way and be more upset

  • Twiheart

I do too, Jite4, but like it or not, IMO, it was probably the best ending place for the “happy ever after, The End”.  I don’t know Stephenie’s thoughts at the time she concluded this book, but this year she has stated that, except for Midnight Sun, she won’t be going anywhere else with these characters (Sob!  I was so hoping for the entire Saga in Edward’s POV), so there would be no point creating another thread that won’t be followed up on.

Some didn’t like the way the ending was neatly wrapped up and tied in a pretty bow, but what better place to end a story that will not be carried any further, than after the stress of taking on the Volturi, the joy that they didn’t need to be separated, that no one was killed, and that Bella opened her shield to give Edward the biggest erotic turn-on mind-reading that he nearly burst with the joy of it.  Fantasy romances should always end on the highest note possible.  I loved the ending (visualizing Edward reading Bella’s memories…ahhh)

Heres an interesting thought: if Renesme is going to be fully mature at about 18-19, then stop. Does that mean she’s going to have to go to HS with her 17 yearold dad and 18 year old mom forever?

  • jite4vanquish

I wonder how they will portray that in the movie?

  • Twiheart

haha, what a horrible thought, Shalista.  Very good points for discussion.

My general gist of the lives of the Cullens is that the high school scenario is probably pretty much limited to a few years in Forks every generation or so.  In other places where there are universities, they attend and get degrees, then move on after a few years (Renesmee would probably go to high school at this point–she will need an education).

Since Carlisle is starting to appear way younger than his age is listed at the hospital, if the story were to continue, they would most likely be moving on soon to another of their favorite (wet, overcast, foresty) places until enough generations go by that no one, except maybe a select Quileute, would remember them when they return to Forks, if they did.
I would like to think that if the story went on (which we will never get), they would find other places in the whole wide world to experience life rather than do high school again, although Renesmee would probably get her normal amount of education and college.  The Cullens are nothing if not very educated and refined.

This is just my hypothesesis, of course, being total fantasy. We will have to use our imagination what will happen to imprinted Jacob.  Would he follow them? No doubt.  As long as he is around vampires, he will not age, but stay comparable to Renesmee forever.  If the Cullens left Forks, the remaining Quileute shapeshifters would start to age again, unless other vamps came into the area.

Anybody else have thoughts on Shalista’s question? It is intriguing to think about.

  • Twiheart

I’m sure we will not be privy to what Edward was seeing in the book, but if they could take all the hot parts we were allowed to see pre-and post Bella’s vampirization, and just do a mind-rerun of them, that would get us all panting, then ARGH!!…fade to black….The End….leaving a whole bunch of Twifans gasping and wondering where they are going to get their next Twilight drug fix….sigh

  • Twiheart

Hi MrsEC and Twigrandma.   The book never said that Alice was sitting on the floor behind the couch,  only  ”From behind the couch, I heard Alice’s tinkling laugh join in.”

From what I’ve read, the couch apparantly is not near any wall, and sideways to the door because when Jacob first came in and got his first view of Bella, she was half hidden by the arm of the couch, and  he soon went over and knelt behind the couch to lean over Bella; Edward was near her in front of the couch.  I agree with Leelee (below) as possible reasons why she is behind it, but she could have been walking by or just standing. Vampires have no need to sit.  Not an important point, but I had that instant vision of tiny Alice hunkered sitting on her tiny butt on the floor between a wall and the couch (like my hide-and-seek kids used to do), so had to go re-read a bit to get that picture out of my head, lol.

Yeah, Twigrandma, Stephenie loves to  send our minds on little wild goose chases.  Those points had me going too. Still don’t have the answer to some, but she leaves a lot for our fertile minds to figure out.

  • Twiheart

Hi LG,  so glad you are having a great time at the convention and seeing some of our Twisisters.   You all have been so good at keeping in touch; you too, Jite4…and on vacation yet.   I’ve finally had a chance to get on here (and now I can’t shut up, lol).
Yes, the important point I forgot to mention above about Alice is, as you said, LG, Jacob is a great “pain-killer” for Alice’s “fetus headaches”.   She isn’t going to stray far from him when he is near.    You gals continue to have an awesome time.

Hi, ifonly…Rose isn’t a very likeable character and I feel she is very self-serving in her caring for Bella, but I tend to cut her a bit of slack (earlier, not so much now), because of the way she was raised…..shallow, affluent, a bit selfish, but she had a dream and the dream was horribly destroyed along with her life.   As vampirization tends to amplify one’s natural traits, she is more or less frozen with those attributes, through no fault of her own, but Carlisles well-meaning act.  I was pleased that she appologized to Bella after Volterra, but right now, she has only one agenda…a baby for Rose.  Like you, we can only defend her so long, then, like you say, she’s on her own.

Very good point about the Volturi, Jite4.   That just wouldn’t do.  Bella is confident she will make a successful transformation, but I would hope that she and Edward did have a chance to talk about this, although Rose isn’t even giving him a chance to have a private moment with his wife who may die soon.   That’s what I really hate about Rose at this point….OK, I know  you are obsessed, but for crying out loud, let the newlyweds have some precious mements of PRIVACY!!!

Oh, Edward, you just couldn’t turn that beautiful child over to Rose.  I think after he saw the child (and her Bella chocolate brown eyes), he would grow up and stop trying to kill himself!
