It’s the age-old question: Harry Potter or Twilight?

I know a lot of us love them both, but comedian Kevin Avery is starting off his new MSN webseries with just this question, exploring the bedrooms of some HP and Twilight superfans in the process!

    That was exactly what I was about to write. HP fans always make fun of Twilight and Twilight fans, whilst we Twilight fans never make fun of them and the HP movies or books.
    Twilight fans might me a bit more obsessive about the story than HP fans, but that just makes us more loveable :)

    Exactly! I’m steadily coming out of my shell again, and honestly I’m just at a point now where I just don’t care what ppl say to me about it. My friends will just have to learn not to talk trash about Twilight in front of me or face my wrath lol! I’ll strut the hallways with my Team Edward Shirt and my Gryffindor Crest necklace with all the confidence in the world cause I know I’m not alone in my passion !D

    Again FALSE, however this has always been an annoyingly common misconception so you are far from alone. Thanks to the stupid American publishers people ignorantly assuming its a children’s book, but since when do children’s books deal with mass genocide as a large part of the story in all 7 books? *rolls eyes* Its actually people in their 20′s and 30′s that make up the majority of HP’s fan base because so many became fans when we were kids and have stayed obsessed with it as we grew up. Harry Potter’s fan demographic is actually even more universal than Twilight’s because not only does it span all ages like Twilight’s, but HP has just as many male fans as it does female fans maybe even more which Twilight sadly doesn’t. For every 1 male Twilight fan there are like 30 female fans. Tell me this, if Harry Potter fans were younger then why would they have “Adult Editions” of the books in the UK and why do they consistently outsell all other editions? I have a set of them myself. The point is: Harry Potter is universal and appeals to all ages and genders so to assume its fans are younger and less mature is utterly fictitious. Twilight and HP’s demographics in terms of age are exactly the same. Its only in their gender demographics that they differ. Sorry, but its just always annoyed me when people wrongly make that assumption which happens frequently thanks to the media perpetuating this myth.

    Dude I know exactly how you feel sometimes I’m afraid to have Twilight be talked about in school because I fear that someone will bitch and I don’t wanna go around thinking that but I can’t help it I’m very protective.     *whispers* I have a wand too! Actually more like 5. Harry’s, Hermione’s, Ron’s, Dumbledore’s, and Voldemort’s. Ok fine and I got my own wand from Ollivander’s at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter theme park. They match you by the Celtic calendar. Mine has a huge skull on the end! On the Noble Collection website they have almost the exact same wand and its called “Death Eater Wand” LOL! I was mortified when that was what they handed me. My friends and family however found it hilarious.

    omgggg you’ve been to the wizarding world of harry potter? I’m soo jealous! It’s way too far away from me :( but they are making a harry potter museum near where I live! How was it though? Did you have butterbeer? :)

    hmmm not sure if I totally agree with you on this one :P
    Sure, it defo is ‘cool’ to hate Twilight and it can be so easy to tag along with the crowd and say you hate them.
    but I was one of them, I hated the idea of it.
    BUT then I read the books, and it was love at first read (lol!)
    I think lots of the harry potter fans have just dismissed the books because they think the saga is cheesy etc. and have heard about SM’s writing capability (let’s face it, JK Rowling is the better writer) and think more about what people will think about them (I really dont care, I love the saga!)

    but there is for def. negativity on both sides. I have seen people say horrible things about the HP series even on here, which makes me sad because they’re so different!

    Set over different time spans, in different countries, different settings with people of different ages.

    I love both but HP will always win for me, but that’s mainly because I’ve grown up with it and it feels more like a part of me :)
    it’s like Harry Potter is my wife and Twilight is my girlfriend LOL.

    I will always support both though and can’t wait to go to the deathly hallows premiere and breaking dawn part one! <3

    Thanks so much♥ It means a lot to me to know that I always have all of you on this site xD That friend and I use to be super close, and we still do quite a lot together, but I don’t even think she realizes that I haven’t been as open with her about my interests ever since. I felt beyond betrayed by her text, mostly because she said it to a guy that she was just trying to impress (that crap REALLY infuriated me). However, I don’t want to hold it against her because she just doesn’t seem to get ho much all of it means to me. I have this site, and all of you seem to get where I’m coming from so I try not to dwell on the past as much =]

    both of my grandparents, parents, multiple college age cousins, older brothers, and many of older adults read harry potter. and twilight fans are older and more mature? i am in eith grade so i go to school with twilight’s target audience, and i know for sure thats not what i’d call mature.

    for all of you twilight fans who say that harry potter fans are always dissing you whenever twilight gets brought up, first i want to say sorry that you had to meet those kind of fans. But don’t you dare tell me twilight doesn’t have any of those, (heck they have more). i’ll start off saying i have some very bright and intellengent twilight fans as friends, who i get along with extremly well. On the other hand the twilight fans who are constantly screaming and wailing “OMG EDWARD IS SOOOOOOOOOO YUMMY” annoy the crap out of me and many other hp fans ouot there. And i have seen twilight fans get nasty over these sort of topics, really nasty. i’ve read a debate between two fans and one started calling the other disgusting swear words just because the other said they didn’t think edward was all that hot in the movies. so if you ever see a hp fan talk about how stupid twilight fans are, i can asure to you that they are talking about those kind of fans, not particuarily you.
