Fan Encounter With Jackson Rathbone At 100 Monkeys Concert In Toronto!

Our awesome reader, Nicole, got the chance to meet Jackson Rathbone and his band 100 Monkeys at a recent concert in Toronto!  Check out her photos and story!

Once again I have to thank you all at Breakingdawnmovie.org for giving us the best leads to meet our favorite vamps!  I learned about Jackson Rathbone touring with his band, 100 Monkeys, several months ago, prompting me to buy tickets for the nearest show which happened to be just over two hours away in Toronto, Canada.  So this is how I found myself and my barely willing husband standing outside the Mod Club on Saturday, July 9th waiting for the doors to open.

As we were making conversation with a handful of people who were also waiting, who walks up to stand at the end of the line?  Jackson Rathbone in all his casual-sexified glory!  He made easy conversation with us even mocking ‘these guys’ [the band], for making us wait outside.  He made a quick departure inside a few minutes later.  It was a very wonderful precursor for the night.

All of us who were waiting had VIM (Very Important Monkey) passes granting us a pre-show sound check party with the band.  All but Uncle Larry were a part of the acoustic set (which was amazing).  The guys were very warm and personal with everyone.  Each of us got a chance to have a picture taken with the band.  My husband shook Jackson’s hand and told me later he had a very strong handshake.

The guys said their goodbyes and headed to the ‘backstage area’ till show time.  I was extra lucky this day in that I had also won a ‘meet and greet’ with the band.  So as the first of two opening bands took the stage I got a chance to talk to Ben Johnson and he is a very cool guy.  We talked about them being constantly on the road and if he likes playing smaller venues like this.  He smiled and said, “Yeah, it lets us really connect with each other on stage as well as the fans.”  He was pretty damn awesome. 

Then I walked up to Jackson and knew this was my moment.  I smiled and said, “Jackson, I need to ask you a favor.”  He looked a little apprehensive but gave me that killer crooked smile and said, “Ok?”  I told him, “I have a tattoo appointment tomorrow and I need your signature on my leg to make it permanent.”  His eyes went wide and he said, “Really?”  I’m like, “Absolutely.”  Jackson said, “Well alright.”  He grabbed a sharpie and said, “Where do you want me to sign?”  I put my foot up on a small table right behind him.  I showed him where Peter Facinelli had signed the outside of my right calf [last October] and he said, “Well then, I’m takin’ the other side.”  With that he put his simple ‘JR’ with a smiley face on my leg. He straightened up and I said thank you and hugged him and he hugged me back full force.  What an absolutely amazing moment!!!

Unfortunately, their manager only gave us five minutes with the band for the M&G.  I did not even get a chance to get a photo of Jackson signing my leg.  Oh well, my memories will have to do…oh and the new tattoo I now have!!!

The concert was beyond words.  If everyone in the world was to see a 100 Monkey concert, the earth would be overrun with Monkey Junkies.  Their music is contagious and unpredictable and if you never listened before, you need to.  They are true showmen and you can see the joy they have when they play together on stage.

And now I sit telling you this story as I look down at the inside of my right calf where Jackson has marked me and smile at the lasting reminder of one of the best nights of my life!!!  I am still on my own personal Monkey high and nothing is bringing me down!
