nah, i was just fucking with you. listen, from the moment i opened the books i was a fan (literally to the point of obsession), but i would NEVER describe the movies as epic, nor can i keep myself from rolling my eyes whenever i see it written. i am no twilight crusader… i am in dumbledore’s army, and that would be a conflict of interest! hahaha anyway, i for sure agree with you TO AN EXTENT on SOME of the points you made. there have just been a lot of movies made based on books that have not turned out right, so it has always been a head scratcher to me how this particular series gets so much shit, you know? it makes you wonder what WOULD be good enough. meyer was a producer and thought it was, but i guess i got carried away.

  • Tatita39

why another year for part 2. needs to be out soon.

  • Blthomp3

    a whole year!!!! noooooooooooooo!

  • twilight_addict / Twister Love

Dumbeldore’s army…? Sounds interesting. I agree with you that the task of
adapting fiction into film is overwhelmingly complex, all the more so when
dealing with a series. What would have been good enough, you wonder? Well,
since I am clearly dealing with a serious Harry Potter fan, I will say that THAT
is the level of adaptation I was looking for. Now, before you go all Dumbeldore’s army on my backside, know that I have read none of the HP books but have watched all the films in the series, and whilst I realise that they must differ considerably from the novels (and, from a reader’s point of view, may leave much to be desired), I nevertheless have to say that they have through the years maintained a truly admirable and ultimately entertaining and engaging cinematic quality, which is the opposite of what has happened with the twilight films – the first was filled with promise, a fertile breeding ground for constant betterment, but the following have been increasingly bad, even to the point of ridicule. Something happened to me while watching the final two instalments of HP, which I had hoped would happen with BDP1 as well: I felt very strongly that the kids had grown up, I felt that, despite their young age, they were children no longer, I felt a strong understanding from them of the risks that they were taking and the likely consequences of these. I will tell you more; the opening scene of HP and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 was so dramatically potent as to leave me breathless – it was brilliantly done! That sort of  character growth, attention to detail, atmospheric continuity, quality of screenplays, compelling pacing and realistic acting even of the most
unrealistic situations, is what could and should have been done with the twilight saga in general and BDP1 in particular. That, my friend, is the difference between a studio that is equally interested in quality and profit, and a studio that thinks so little of the people whose loyalty sustains it (the fans) as to continually feed them excrement, that is the difference between WB and Summit.

no… I can’t wait a year until see the end of the most incredible story ever… i need to see it sooner

  • Turdler

yes to what you said. and i am beginning to feel more and more that it all boils down to the story. i love the story so much, but apparently it just does not make for a good movie. and fuck ya harry potter was EPIC ;) but there are still things in the movies that were not up to par in my book.  not everyone can be pleased all the time. p.s. i like all your big words. (seriously) i wonder how old you are. and normally i dont ever ever comment on these posts, but i knew you were waiting for someone to say something so i thought id step up!

  • Vylulah

Look on the bright side… with Hollywood’s total lack of any new ideas these days, they’ll be remaking the whole series within 10 years! Then we’ll get to discover the joy all over again! Hahaha! Happy Turkey Day to everyone!

  • Ava

I am a fanatic of the books, it was an escape from the horror of my husband’s illness. I have enjoyed the films, but they can never match the books, visual representation cannot match our imaginations. I eagerly looked forward to BD, but after viewing it, something was missing that the I can’t quite place?? I felt the love scenes in Remeber Me were more passionate for the same film rating. I wonder if they have ’over’ edited? I didn’t feel comfortable with the decision to depict the wolf ‘telepathy’ conversation. the best I can describe it is, the film made me feel embarrassed to be an avid reader of the books. Although the books are in the young adult genre, they appeal to a much wider audience, and the story doesnt seem silly. With the exception of the birth scene, BD made me feel like I was watching a film targeted for 12-13 yr olds. I feel left wanting.

Honestly guys if Stephanie is gonna continue the twilight series, which i feel she will. Shes not going to tell people until she is finished and probably ready to be published…look what happened with Midnight Sun… and we are all anxious but i have a feeling its Part 2 is gonna be just as good if not better than part 1.

  • Sharpflame

I saw part 1 twice already and I loved loved loved it! It’s my new favourite movie! I can’t wait for part 2! For those of you who haven’t already, you should read the book! I did….twice. :P

  • twilight_addict / Twister Love

Firstly, I dearly hope that your husband has made a full recovery and that your life has regained happiness and normality.

“I felt the love scenes in Remember Me were more passionate for the same film rating.” I was thinking the exact same thing only yesterday – Remember Me showed nothing of the actual act in its love scenes, and yet the passion was so much more palpable and convincing. They could have easily done something similar, and I dare say even better, in BD without exceeding the PG13 limitations. As for the rest of your review, I agree with you completely. It was a stunning disappointment on every possible level, with the exclusion of Bella’s illness which was very poignantly depicted.

  • twilight_addict / Twister Love

“P.S: I like all your big words…”  Haha, thank you. I’m a writer, so perhaps that has something to do with it. I am 26 years old. I agree with you that it isn’t necessarily the easiest of stories for adapting into film, but with a few maturing changes, or a bit of de-cheesing, as I call it, and proper direction, they could have been very good indeed.

P.S: Never feel reluctant to comment; your opinion is as valid as any other’s, and I always enjoy a good discussion.  ; )

  • team edward all the way baby !

i cant wait for the new one to come out but at the same time i dont cause its the last one ever and its really upsetting :(

  • ifonly2011

I was wondering if the love scenes were deliberately filmed this way for bd part 1 because in part 2 there’s nothing stopping them beings as they’ll both be vampires and all that!! Maybe they’re trying to show the difference?? I felt a difference in the book when reading it….just a thought :)

  • ifonly2011

Somebody else has also commented on the missing scar, didn’t notice myself!

  • bella1712

in my opinion, part one was better than all the other twilight movies, although, i´m a really fan of twilight.
For me it´s difficult to understand, why, it´s take so long to show part two…??? with the last movie of harry potter it was faster…and better for the fans, so to wait one year is a long long long time…:(
    i´m sad about that…

  • belktina

I thought that it was sad that this had to be the very last movie and then they r done with them, NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

  • Vanessababe66

omg i used to hate twililght  and then when i saw breaking dawn i sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo loooooovvvvveee rebert pattinson oh god he sooo hot if any boy i have to pick in world it will be him if i saw him omg my heart will just stop lovvvveeee rebert ahhhhh by ur biggest largest fan in the world IS

  • Sheila

I agree with everyone, it will  be really bittersweet to see the final instalment of the twilight saga. I have enjoyed each film. My favourite film of the twilight saga has to be eclipse. I love how you get to see the diffident side to the characters. I think the cast did a wonderful job on all the breaking dawn part one. So I have high expectation of breaking dawn part two. I am really excited to see more of Jacob and Edward in the next film.

  • Bellas<3SPIDERFLIPPY&Daddyward

Let me just start by saying that I’m really sad you feel this way. That you have been disappointed so greatly by these (and especially this movie, apparently) movies and that you have found it so greatly hollow.  For a fan having their books being brought to life is important as we all have a picture in our heads of how it should look like and to be disappointed that it wasn’t brought to the screen is painful, to say the least.

I do respect you for putting your opinion out there. I don’t agree with you on a lot of things, but I will never judge you for the fact that you disliked this. I would like to thank you, though, for reviewing the movie. I say this for a reason: some of the reviews I’ve read (and I try to refrain from them, as they tamper with my enthusiasm for this series) are disrespectful, no wait, just plain rude. I swear I read a review in which the writer basically said: “Twilight sucks.” How is that professional? How is that a review of a movie? How is that respectful towards the fans? If you don’t like it give me arguments based on the quality of the acting, the cinematography and other things that other movies are reviewed on. And that is what you did and I would like to thank you for that.

Now on to the movie. I really, thoroughly enjoyed this installment. You have to understand that, for me, what Twilight – the movie – lacked was completely present in this one: keeping to the story. They followed dialogues directly from the book and the things they did change/add did not bother me at all, in fact they gave this extra ‘umph’ (I don’t know how to say that differently) the book missed, in my opinion. Breaking Dawn the book never spoke to me the way Twilight the book did. Twilight had that magic of first love, the attraction was obvious. We KNOW why Bella fell in love with Edward. And Breaking Dawn… Well, it was fine. I liked it, sure, but something was missing. It was like the friendship between Alice and Bella had completely been forgotten and I couldn’t see the Bella I got to know in Twilight. And then BDpt 1 was here and I saw it after a marathon in which I was confronted with everything that was missing in the movies after which came Breaking Dawn. It had me nervous, actually, I was hoping to not be disappointed! And I wasn’t. I rarely come out of a cinema completely speechless and with this one I was. It had exceeded my expectations; the magic from Twilight the book was there in this movie.

The written word is a powerful thing. It can transport us into a completely different reality and that is why it appeals to me. When Twilight came out (the movie, because that’s when I started reading the series) I was…. lonely, you could say. Twilight gave me an escape from that. I could read and transport myself to this other reality where I didn’t have to think about real life and that made me happy. The written word has the power to create anything you would ever imagine, you just need the words. With movies that gets difficult because some things just don’t exist and are for that reason that much more difficult to be put on a screen.

I could continue talking for ages about this, but I won’t bore you any longer. I just hope I’ve been able to make my point, without hurting you (which was never my intention!)

  • Turdler

    :)

  • twilightgirl

I can’t wait for Breaking Dawn Part 2.  I’m going to the very first showing just like i did for the last three.

  • twilight_addict / Twister Love

Thank you, my darling, for sharing with me (it was not at all boring, quite the contrary). : )
As you expressed your regret over my disliking the film, allow me to express my delight at your having loved it so completely as to say that, not only did it meet with your every expectation, but actually surpassed them. This is why I’ve always said that there are as many versions to any given film as there are eyes that view them, as many versions to any book as there are minds that read them – no two painters will paint the same landscape in the same manner. And as for the potency of the written word, trust me when I tell you that it has transformed my life. I hope you will like the second instalment as much as you do this first, and I hope that I might dislike it a little less.

  • Reynolds

for anyone who read the book,  the last part is in Bellas own words.  so part 2 will probably start off with what she is thinking about and going through before she wakes up.

  • Bellas<3SPIDERFLIPPY&Daddyward

You have no idea how happy you’ve made me with this reply.
I love movies for that exact reason you said: everyone has a different take on them and to be able to discuss that with others makes it even better :)
I honestly hope for you that the very last movie of the Saga won’t disappoint you in the way the others have. That you may enjoy the closing of the Saga as much as you’ve been hoping for since reading the books :)

Can I ask you one thing, and it’s pure curiosity, what did you think about the transformation scene? Personally I loved it, the way they showed the cells and her hair regaining color… But what did you think? :)

  • Jennimaylynn

I found this link in another post.. It looks real too me…. Spoiler alert for part 2… This not spam or anything like.. check this out and you will be glad that you did… Trust me… It”s hot…

  • Mici

And why should i wait so long afterwards that’s terrible

  • Nadia

Thats exactly what I am doing as well although it is hard as you can’t watch them when ever you want. :/ But directors cuts would be awesome.

  • sydney

ok i like the movie. but now i have too many questions that havent been answered. with the first three movies, the only q’s i had was “why is bella blood so special and not like others?” now bcuz of this movie, there r sooooooooo many more unanswered q’s. Like ” how could bella human eggs accpet edward undead sperm?, why is she having a vodoo growth pregancy?,why it take awhole day for her to come back to life? and how come nobody’s powers work on her or the baby?, Is bella some kind of choosen one of that the vampires are suppose to fear or embrace?,Is the baby anew breed or the anti-christ ? Were are these anwers? Why werent there any answers in the movie? And i cant wait another whole year to have them

  • twilight_addict / Twister Love

I feel a serious friendship brewing here, my lovely! : ) Where have you been all my…well, these past three years?

The transformation scene, I actually thought, was one of the better ones (along with the disrobing scene) – quite affecting - and by the end of it Kristen really had turned stunningly beautiful; I’m interested to see what she does with her character’s new state of vampirism in the final instalment. Just under a year to go, right? Well, at least we’ve got Bel Ami, Cosmopolis, OTR and SWATH to see us through.

  • Bellas<3SPIDERFLIPPY&Daddyward

Well, if we’re going to be friends we need to properly introduce ourselves, don’t we? ;)
*sticks hand out* I’m Bella. You?
I’ve been here, y’know lurkin’ around. Being a fan. LMAO I can’t even believe I’ve been on this site for like 2 and a half years! :O

The disrobing scene hit me hard. I had not expected to see that and be confronted by that. And it was one of the only moments of the movie in which you ACTUALLY saw the Burning Man in Edward…
Yeah, dude, less than a year! WOOT. Before we know it, it’ll be here! *gasps*
Can’t wait for SWATHM. Super excited about that one :)

  • twilight_addict / Twister Love

Friendship confirmation: *extends hand in turn* I’m Lana. Is it too early in our relationship to go in for a figurative hug? ; ) I’ve been here for about as long as you – how time flies when you lurk…

I share your excitement for SWATH, but if there’s one thing I’m even more desperate for, it’s Bel Ami – I (and, I imagine, millions of others) have been waiting for this film to see release for excruciatingly too long a time. Hopefully, Robert’s recent visit to StudioCanal will expedite the matter.

  • Jasmine wright

    it to longggggggg :(

  • Gh_deko
  • Jhatfield211

I wish it would come out sooner…this waiting is driving me crazy!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Jhatfield211

By the way I am team jacob and he should have won the girl.

  • Bellas<3SPIDERFLIPPY&Daddyward

Hi Lana! I love your name heeheheh
It’s NEVER to early for a hug *hugs* I can still remember not even knowing if BD was going to come out!! Oh the old days.. LOL Do you remember when this site was super crowded and you had to FIGHT to get the first comment on a post? There was one post; everyone was bored: it got more than 1500 comments! heheh (on nmm.org I think)

I don’t know why, but I’m not really excited for Bel Ami. I guess the story doesn’t speak to me. I think that as soon as it comes out and people start to talk about it, THAT’S when the excitement’ll hit :)

  • Heavely2323

oh mu gosh! I can not wait to see part two I want to get all the movies for christmas! :) I want to have the collection so i can have like a whole day for the rest of my life to see those movies. I love you, Edward! I love all of it. I’m so excited for it part two i wish it was all togeather. so intense and Edward made me cry 3 times.
