‘CBGB’ Still with Ashley Greene

Here’s a look at Ashley Greene (Alice Cullen) as Lisa Kristal in her new film CBGB.

CBGB tells the story of Hilly Kristal (Alan Rickman) and his New York club from its conceit as a venue for Country, Bluegrass and Blues (CBGB) to what it ultimately became: the birthplace of underground rock ‘n roll and punk. When Kristal had difficulty booking country bands in his club on the Bowery he opened his doors to other kinds of rock music. Kristal had one demand of the acts he booked; they could only play original music. No top 40′s, no covers. It was the credo he lived by, support the artist at whatever the cost. Hilly Kristal ironically became known as the godfather of punk giving a chance to such bands as Blondie, Television, Ramones, Talking Heads, Dead Boys and The Police.

I really can’t wait to see this. I grew up listening to Blondie, The Ramones, and Talking Heads. Taylor Hawkins as Iggy Pop!! Sweet!!!

    A little bragging rights here……..

    I’m VERY proud to say that The Ramones are from my neighborhood, went to my school, and my brother who is much older than I went to school with, and knew them from the neighborhood! We have many famous and successful people from our area/school. From Simon & Garfunkel (not my cup of tea and way before I attended FHHS) to Ray Romano, to Jerry Seinfeld, Hank Azaria, Donna Karan, even the character of Peter Parker (A.K.A. Spiderman, and the home they used for him in the in the first film was around the corner from a friend’s house. Everyone on that block got a new lawn installed by the movie studio so it would look good! ) all come from Forest Hills. And though he obviously isn’t from here, but Pattinson filmed a scene at Eddie’s Sweet Shoppe for ‘Remember Me’. Many movies/shows have been filmed in our area and the surrounding neighborhoods.

    CBGB was a launching pad for many talented artists and I hope the film does it justice.

    Blonde is the shiznit! I was born in the 80′s but when I got in my teens my mom made sure I knew who Blondie was. THANK GOD!

    I never used 8 tracks but my grandfather has a HUGE collection of them. And the only thing that plays them is this gigantic dresser looking speaker with a slot and knobs and lights. lol
