Guy Pearce Talks About ‘The Rover’ and Robert Pattinson
Robert Pattinson’s co-star in The Rover, Guy Pearce, had nothing but kind words about Rob
From The Herald Sun:
The two actors have just spent seven weeks together in the South Australian Outback, filming director David Michod’s hotly-anticipated follow-up to Animal Kingdom, with Pearce waxing lyrical about his co-stars “beautiful face”.
“The best thing about Rob is that he is a really great actor,” says Pearce.
“Watching the rushes back, you go: ‘OK, he is just going to be fantastic’.”
Guy Pearce says his co-star in The Rover Robert Pattinson is a ‘great actor’.
The Twilight star plays white trailer trash from the southern states of America in the futuristic western, set in an apocalyptic near future where society has broken down in the wake of a severe financial crisis.
“He plays (the character) slightly backward, emotionally useless and really vulnerable,” says Pearce.
“He’s got this beautiful face so you are completely entranced by that face no matter how ugly he makes himself or how wounded he is, or how manky his haircut.”

First Official Still of Rob Pattinson in ‘The Rover’
From EW:
Australia was founded as a repository for crooks and criminals — a wretched hive of scum and villainy, like the British Empire’s own Mos Eisley. Of course, that was a long time ago and the Australian national demeanor has since shifted from “kill or be killed” to “live and let live,” but David Michôd’s gritty 2010 drama Animal Kingdom chronicled some of the country’s more modern criminal descendents. In his upcoming sophomore effort, The Rover, the director takes things even further.
Robert Pattinson plays a denizen of the Outback in the near future, after a worldwide financial collapse has sent many like him running to the still viable mines of the Australian desert. “It’s like a new gold rush,” says Michôd. “Where people from all corners of the world have come out to the desert to scrape out an existence. Petty criminals and miscreants and hustlers.” Guy Pearce, who had an uncharacteristically reserved role in Animal Kingdom, gets to sink his teeth into a nicely nasty part opposite Pattinson. “The basic story is really quite elemental,” says Michôd. “You’ve got a really dark, dangerous, murderous person in Guy’s character, and in Rob’s character you have a quite troubled and damaged, but beautiful and naïve, soul.”

Rob Pattinson Filming ‘The Rover’
From Adelaide Now:
The teen heart-throb was on the roadside set for just an hour for a fight scene where it appeared he came off second best.
In their efforts to block The Advertiser ‘s exclusive shots, the film crew and minders closed the road and claimed “ownership” of the town of about six buildings, east of Port Augusta.
“We own this town,” a film producer told The Advertiser.
Minders used umbrellas and trucks to keep intrusive cameras off the star, who appeared to be sporting a close-shaved haircut for the role.
He also looks to have forgone his clean-cut look for the movie and has a three-day growth.
The scene featured Pattinson staggering out of the passenger side of a ute before being beaten to the ground by the driver.

Whoa! He’s looking a little thin and a whole lot dirty!
