“As Twilight series devotees know, there was a lot of ground to cover in adapting Breaking Dawn to the screen,” said Condon. “Between the wedding, the honeymoon, the birth, and everything in between, naturally there were things that didn’t make it into our final cut. But I wanted to make sure that for all the Twihards out there, there was a chance to see some of these cut scenes – several of which are fan favorites from the book.”

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 Extended Edition now featuring additional footage, presents the marriage, honeymoon and the birth of a child that brings unforeseen and shocking developments for Bella and Edward and those they love, including new complications with werewolf Jacob Black.

Breaking Dawn DVD/Blu-Ray Sells Faster Than Eclipse During First Weekend
During its first weekend of availability Breaking Dawn Part 1 sold 3.2 million DVDs and Blu-rays. That’s 18% more than the same period for Eclipse, but not quite as strong as the performance for New Moon.
There were also 50,000 digital sales, a 47% increase from Eclipse, and 80,000 video on demand rentals, a 142% increase.
Rob Friedman and Patrick Wachsberger, previous studio heads of Summit and now at Lionsgate , remarked on the performance:
The incredible fan support for the characters and story that author Stephenie Meyer has created never ceases to impress. We thank all of the fans for continuing their journey with us beyond the big screen and look forward to bringing you Breaking Dawn Part 2 later this year.

Bill Condon’s Amazing Commentary for Breaking Dawn Part 1
Bill Condon is the perfect director for the same reason his commentary for Breaking Dawn Part 1 is so illuminating. Condon explains the strengths of each of his actors and collaborators with precision while keeping in mind the complete picture.
Condon’s adoration for the Twilight series is clear; changes made from the novel are explained with grace and thoughtfulness.
Here are the most interesting tidbits-
- The last scene of Breaking Dawn Part 1 is exactly where Part 2 begins.
- “Kristen is the ultimate Twihard.” She remembers the first time she read the books, what made her cry, and she’d lobby for certain lines to be put back in.
- The characters were so comfortable together that “it was between the lines of acting and just being.”
- Towards the end of filming, Kristen Stewart has a scene with Taylor Lautner where Jacob and Bella have a last dance. At the end of the scene as the Quielute recede into the forest, Kristen lifted everyone’s spirits by hiking up her wedding dress and running after Taylor with the hilarious “Jacob! Jacob! I was wrong, I changed my mind, come back, don’t leave me!”
- Kristen Stewart’s Bella in Breaking Dawn 2 is a sort of “Warrior goddess.”
- The original cut of the love scene had “a bit more thrust.”

Breaking Dawn Dominates Amazon, iTunes, Walmart Bestseller Lists
Breaking Dawn has stormed up the charts to #1 at three large movie retailers: iTunes, Walmart and Amazon.
The special edition Blu-Ray at Walmart is sold out online, and three different versions of the movie take up the top three spots!
