‘Breaking Dawn Part 1′ Tops Box Office for a Third Week with $16.9 Million!

Breaking Dawn Part 1 tops the box office for a third week with $16.9 million!

Entertainment Weekly:

For the first time, a Twilight movie has ruled the box office for three weeks in a row. During what was one of the slowest weekends of the year, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 1 held on to first, dropping 60 percent for $16.9 million, according to studio estimates.

That’s a smaller decline than what The Twilight Saga: New Moon experienced during the same weekend two years ago — it fell 64 percent. Nevertheless, Breaking Dawn — Part 1 is still trailing the past two Twilightmovies. The fourth entry in the romantic supernatural series has so far grossed a stellar $247.3 million in 17 days. By comparison, New Moon had earned $255.4 million by this point, while The Twilight Saga: Eclipse had collected $255.8 million. This will ultimately be a moot point when Breaking Dawn — Part 2 comes out next November and likely destroys all of the franchise’s records.

1. The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 1 — $16.9 mil
2. The Muppets — $11.2 mil
3. Hugo — $7.6 mil
4. Arthur Christmas — $7.4 mil
5. Happy Feet Two — $6.0 mil

Woo hoo!  Okay people, how many times have you seen Breaking Dawn Part 1?  How many MORE times will you see it?

Let’s make BREAKING DAWN PART 1 top the box office for four weeks in a row!  Come on Twi-Hards!

Thank you Emily!

Dang! I need to catch up….I’ve seen it 5 times….guest I’ll be trying to go to the theater everyday this week. :)

  • IndiesR

    Never gets old

  • DearJacob_I_Win_SincrlyEdwrd

I hope this doesn’t sound weird..but I SO wish that I knew all you in real life! My family & friends don’t have nearly the same dedication and love that I have for these books and movies. It would be so fun to watch the movies with you all and go see BD every day (lmao) and talk about Robsten. :’) I just don’t have that with the people I know.

  • Twiheart

Many people feel like that…not EVEN weird.  That’s why these sites are so popular.  This is a place we can come and express ourselves and talk about this Saga with like minded people.  Yes, being able to get to know each other would be fun, but we can at least see the movies individually, then come talk about them here.

I’ve seen BD1 four times…could only squeeze one time out of my husband, once with my daughter, and two lady friends I got hooked on the series. Like iamnotcreative below, I’ve run out of people to ask, lol. Will have to wait for the DVD, I guess, but there is nothing like Edward on the big screen; Edward in lovemaking mode on the big screen…priceless!!      I will keep an eye out for you on the BD site and say hi….you have a lot of friends on here who love the Saga as much as you.

  • Twiheart

i think I read somewhere he was with a group of friends.  The tabloids will always build a monoument out of an ant hill.  Don’t worry.

  • Twiheart

Hi Nana, good to “see” you.  I envy you.  I’m afraid at 40 miles round trip, I’ve probably seen it all I can…I’m thankful I squeezed out 4 times.    It has brought a lot of joy to my life, too…..and is timeless and ageless….I’m 69 (as  you know) and my last viewing I was surprised to see an elderly man (at least in his 70′s), all alone, come and watch it….yep, ageless.

  • Twiheart

Hi TeamEdward.  Good to “see” you, too.   I envy you  your 6 times, but keep on going.  We’ll keep this movie at the top of the list until BD2, at this rate.

  • DearJacob_I_Win_SincrlyEdwrd

Thank you Twiheart; you’re right. I guess I’m just getting a little sad knowing that there is only one more movie to come out, and I’m getting all sentimental. A year early! I’m really glad for this website, though, and all the nice people on here like you!
I’ve only seen BD twice. Once with my sister and once with my mom. I would love to go watch it many more times, but I have to start saving some money & getting priorities straightened out lol (although, if I had it my way, I would see BD every week!). And yes, there really is nothing like Edward in lovemaking mode! Can’t wait for the DVD. Thanks for being so sweet! I will keep an eye out for you too!

  • Twiheart

It is an EXCELLENT movie.   Don’t miss it.  I don’t know if I would watch it in 3D…kinda distracting, but go see it.

  • Anonymous

yeah me too..i hope their relationship is not on the rocks ….

  • Bellas<3SPIDERFLIPPY&Daddyward

Three times and I’m broke.. Woopsie. LOL

I guess I’ll have to wait for the DVD hehehe

  • IndiesR

    Lol.

  • my cullen

I’ve watched Breaking Dawn and it was awesome, i will be watching it again this weekend….

  • mlovesrpattz

We hope they are doing fine together. Maybe they want to be left alone for the holidays.
I saw a post that they are selling their house in LA. Hopefully, they found one in UK, which is better for them.

  • Anonymous

Hi Twiheart…you are not alone!! This site allow me to express about twilight freely.
Im waiting for the blu ray. Well, 1 advantage is that my house has a 72inch projector screen with hdmi. So once i got the blu ray, it’s like my own personal brand of theatre…hehehe.

  • PieceOfForeverRPatz

This has absolutely nothing to do with the post but since we’ve all been here for years you guys have become like my extended family all over the world. I have a question and I need to hear honest opinions. So here it goes:

There is a show in spanish called Nuestra Belleza Latina which is somewhat in between what Next Top Model and Miss USA/Miss Universe is. For years I’ve been hearing from family and friends that I should apply and I’m finally beginning to seriously consider it.

I meet all the requirements for the show. I’m young and a university student. I’m fluent in spanish. My measurements are 32- 23 1/2 -34 and my height is 5’6″ 1/2.

The prize for the winner is 250 000 dollars, a one year contract with the tv channel for different programs, the title of Mss N.B.L. for the year, and other prizes such as clothes and living arrangements.

The money would go to pay for my university tuition (which I really really need and is the main reason I’m even considering doing the show) and help out my family, plus given that I’m trying to become an actress the contract with the channel would help to put my feet on the door.

It is after all a reality show that will be broadcasted on national tv and almost all spanish speakers in the US watch as well as in other Latin American countries. My holdback, aside from self conscious problems of feeling too skinny and the like, is that I am very very private with my personal life and given that it is a reality show you get more sympathy votes and the like for speaking about your private life such as family traumas, things you’ve overcome and the like. It is that that I feel totally uncomfortable about, I can deal with all the physical and beauty pageant things but not with privacy invasion.

I’d like to know you guys honest opinion of what you guys would do if you were in my shoes or what you’d recommend me to do. I would greatly appreciate it.

Yeah I get to comment on this post!!

I watched BD 3 times…hoping to see every weekend until it leaves, but it’s tricky sneaking out so family doesn’t know as they harrass me and seriously have me see a shrink.

BD is an AWESOME movie and deserves every bit of it, but I’m ready for the DVD so I can pause and repeat many many times….lol

  • Twiheart

Hi, TAD2M.   Glad to see you.  I really could see BD over and over at the theater, but just not feasible, with distance and all.   DVD will be great, but nothing beats Edward on big screen.  We have a 47″ flatscreen, so that will have to do.  I do like the idea of pausing, rewinding, pausing, rewinding, panting, continuing, pausing, sighing……   How to make a 117 minute movie into 3 hours, lol.

  • Anonymous

You bet, I will. Hope it stays #1 for a while longer and makes more than Elcipse.

  • Anonymous

What mag. did you read this in? I don’t have much trust in tabloids, usually only 1% of the story is based on actual facts. But,whatever the truth is, only they know. I just hope, that both are happy.

  • Anonymous

What they don’t know want hurt them, or you. LOL

  • Twiheart

Hi POFRP.  It sounds like you have been presented a good opportunity to take the next step in your career goals, but I don’t think anyone but you can make this decision for you.  Investigate this thoroughly that it is on the up and up, a bonifide show.

As for feeling too thin, thin seems to be in (look at Kristen).   I do think (and this is just my opinion), if this “reality” show involves opening your private life to the world, it is definately something you would have to discuss with your family…if they think it is a good opportunity for you, if they have any reservations, would they be supportive, and then all of you decide just how much of your private life you would chose to reveal.  Write down all the pros and cons; what you might lose by entering, would the gain be worth the loss.  No vote is worth the winning if you had to sell your soul, so to speak, to win. Reveal what you and your family choose, and don’t reveal the rest.    I will be watching the sites to see what you chose to do, if you chose to post your decision.   Nothing ventured, nothing gained, but I think you will need the support of your family for this decision.   Good luck to you.

Sounds pretty awesome to me. All you need is the surround sound, if you don;t have it already.

  • Anonymous

Wow, I need to catch up too. Seen it 6x’s.

  • Twiheart

Ohohohoh…..I wish I lived next door, lol.    There are times I would really like a huge TV screen…like when I watch all the Saga DVD’s (actually not really any other time).      We came home once several years ago with a 50″ screen, but our living room is small and it literally took the room over, so we returned it for smaller, but did work up to 47″, so not much different…..but a 72″   wow.     Enjoy…and remember, it is probably possible to wear out the rewind and pause and slo-mo buttons, lol (“own personal brand of theatre”..that’s funny…)

  • Twiheart

Me too, DJ.    We have been on this Twilight “drug” for so long, what WILL we do when it is all over and done with.  I wonder how long these Twilight comment sites will stay up.  I have met so many nice people on it.    Take care, and keep posting.

I saw that  acticle too and the headline was a little deceiving. when I read it, it said they had rented it for a few month during the summer, and that the owner was now selling it. Not them.

  • Twiheart

Love the pictures.  Thanks for posting the link.

  • EdwardsNana

Believe me Miranda, I know the feeling.  It took me a whole lifetime.

  • EdwardsNana

Welcome aboard Nancy, I know just how you feel.  I have never felt this way about a love story. Guess it took me till I got to the “golden years” to experience such passion for a story.

  • Twiheart

The question is, will the teenagers be playing teenagers (a change from the book), or are they teenage actors playing older parts.   MacKenzie Foy, at 10 and nearly 11 played Renesmee, who never age-progressed past age 4 in the book…even though her birth to the end was only 3 months….I was upset that they picked such an older child to play a toddler/pre-schooler age. They did a beautiful job in BD1, but will reserve my opinion when I see her in BD2.

I read The Host and liked it, but as you said, these were young adults…I can’t remembeer if any age given, but I’m guessing the characters were between 20 and 25.  I will have to re-read the book.  I hope they don’t change to book just to fit in the Twilight world.   It is totally different, has nothing to do with the high school years, so we shall see.  I haven’t researched anything on the movie; I’ll have to check out Stephenie’s website to see what is mentioned there.

  • EdwardsNana

Hi sweet Twiheart, How are you dear???  Yes, I understand your dilemma with the distance to the theater.  But it is so easy for me.  I went again tonight.  I am so addicted.  I know it will be gone from the theater’s soon and I will be so busy with Christmas.  I just don’t want to miss one time when nothing is going on………..I sneak to the theater. I for the first time in my life, love Monday night football, my husband is so busy with it, he doesn’t even realize I am gone for 2 hours.  : )  I went again tonight and I was the only one there, until a young man came in by himself.

This is so awesome…and completely NO SURPRISE!!! ♥

Hi twiheart, maybe you’ll be able to get someone to go with you again before it leaves the theater, which I hope will be awhile longer. I saw an older couple when I went last night. Thats the great thing about love, its ageless.

  • Anonymous

Hi EdwardsNana, I plan on going again Thurs. or Fri. Can’t get enough of Edward on the big screen.

  • Anonymous

    i read it in e!online.com

The article/photo your talking about is just another magazine trying to come up with a story that isn’t there. He was photographed hanging out with his friends in LA a couple of days ago. Now if they’re male or female I don’t think it matters. Do you remember when Kristen was photographed with Garret Hedland and the magazines started coming with stories from that? Well I think this Rob thing is along the same lines as that. Now I don’t know anything about Rob and Kristen’s relationship other than the fact that they are together. :)

No worries ladies…it fitted with a gd sound system. Usually, i will watched the saga with full blast sound system n in high def.
Wish i could invite all of you.

  • EdwardsNana

Oh my dear TEB4E, my biggest regret is that you and I don’t live closer.  I would never have to go to the movie alone again.  I am so sorry we weren’t able to connect in LA.  But maybe someday we will meet.  Enjoy your BD movie on Thursday & Friday……..who know’s, I maybe at a theater at the same time.  I know how you feel.  Edward on the big screen is an awesome experience.  Especially since he finally is happy in this movie for a little while.  God love him, he never gets a break.  Can you imagine knowing someone like Edward.  Oh My!!!

  • Darcycullen

Well there’s a theater really close to my house that only costs $3.  You can’t beat that bargin….  So I go every weekend and spend some time with Edward.

  • PieceOfForeverRPatz

Thank you so much for your words of wisdom. Unfortunately I’m not very close to my family, other than my mom who lives in another country. I did talk to them nonetheless and most seem to support me. I also spoke with my mother and she green-lit my decision so I think I will be presenting myself to the auditions for the show. After all, like you said nothing ventured, nothing gained. I don’t know what the future holds or even if I’ll make it in but it seems like a good opportunity in which I have much more to win than to lose. In regards to my personal life, I’ve decided to take everything one step at a time. First, I’ll concentrate on qualifying and then on how I will handle everything. No matter what happens I will not sell my private life or my soul for any amount of money, I will try to pass every test and prove myself worthy of the winning spot by exceeding in all physical aspects and if I do win great, I’ll finance my education and bring my mother to live with me with that money, and if I don’t I’ll find other more suitable ways to do so without feeling like I had to sell my integrity for it. Like I said, I am interested in acting but I am not interested in fame nor having more money than I can count. I will see this as both a career opportunity and some financial aid but won’t lose who I am as a person for it.

Well, POFRP, it sounds like you have a very good head on your shoulders and can make this decision after looking into all the pros and cons.   I would say….you go, girl….and the best of luck to you.  I would love to hear how it turns out, so will watch for your screen name.  In any case, you will never know what you can achieve if you don’t take that first step.  Have fun, whatever you do.

  • Twiheart

Me too.  I’ll bring the popcorn, although I found in the movies I ate the popcorn watching the previews because I didn’t want to be making chewing noises while enthralled in all the heart thumping commentary, lol.

Me too, going to see a Twilight movie together would be awesomoe.Yes, knowing an Edward would only be in my dreams.
