Breaking Dawn Casting News: Rami Malek Joins The Cast As Benjamin!

Rami Malek confirmed exclusively to Entertainment Tonight, that he is joining the Twilight Saga cast as Benjamin, in Breaking Dawn Part 2!

Here is some info on his character -

Benjamin is a member of the Egyptian Coven who is described as a young boyish-looking vampire with midnight hair, olive pallor, and an oddly cheerful look. Benjamin has a gift of element manipulation and is able to physically influence the elements (earth, air, water, and fire).

Exciting! I think he will be perfect as Benjamin! I absolutely LOVED him in The War At Home (which Jackson Rathbone also had a guest role on that show, playing opposite of Rami!).

Lol! He was Jackson Rathbones gay boyfriend in the War At Home. That’s so cool. I like this guy, he reminds me of Jackson Rathbone. And he can manipulate elements which reminds me of Avatar, which remind me of Jackson Rathbone This guy, I like him.

he looks good. to be honest, i’m not completely fussed about who they cast for these minor characters, as long as they can act. seriously he will have, what, two lines in the whole movie?

I’m with you on the older looking part…I mean, the guy is 29, and Benjamin is like 15 or something, because he’s even younger than Edward. He does look much younger than his age, but not 15…anyway if he plays his part well, it’s all that counts.

Yeah, I had my problems too with reading BD…can you believe it that I read the first three volumes and the part up to Bella becoming a vamp in like 4 days, and then once she was a vamp it got so boring I gave up? I finally finished BD after another 2 months, I re-read and memorized parts of the first, second and third one in the mean time. I still find the second part of BD the lamest of the four volumes, sorry!

I don’t remeber if his age is actually mentione din BD, but I’m sure he looks like a very young boy, barely out of childhood, and definitely younger looking than Edward. Wasn’t there a discussion about Jared Smith to play Benjamin? And he’s like 12 or something.

Hmm I guess, but I’ve always pictured him around 18 years old or something. Just beacuse one is young/boyish looking doesn’t mean your a kid. But it’s up to everyone how you picture someone in a book. Jaden Smith is waaay to young to play any character in Breaking Dawn IMO though.

I just figured out where I know him from… He was Ahkmenrah in Night at the Museum (I & II). He’s perfect for Benjamin! I just Wiki’d him and he’s actually of Egyptian decent.

As for his age – I really don’t think it matters. It says in the book that Benjamin ‘looks barely older than a boy,’ but it also describes how he is strong, independent, and carefree at the same time. I think it’s more important to have someone who can pull of the character, looks and skills, than just being born in the right year. He’s Egyptian, and he looks very boyish, despite being almost 30. Plus, I really liked him as Ahkmenrah : )

I agree on both parts. You can look young and not be young and vise/versa but I think Bella does actually comment that he looks to be about her age. And no Jayden doesn’t match anyone in BD. Wait…except maybe the younger wolves that change and I don’t think we ever see them in human form.

I’m going to keep a really open mind about these characters and who their actors will be because remember, right now they don’t look much like they will in the movie! Just imagine them with the pale makeup on and the vamp attire, and i’m sure they will be great.

Btw, I think he will make a great Benjamin! He is so cheerful and nice in this video, just like Benjamin should be! It will probably be natural for him to act as Benjamin.

Mentioned the boyish looks and that he is young, but it may be 18, 19 and even 20 years, so …
So it may be older than the teenager (like 20y.o), but is still young ….

I’m really super excited to find out Rami is going to be in the final movie of the twilight saga! I really loved his performance in The Pacific, which is the mini-series he was talking about that they won an Emmy for. He was a terrific actor in that movie. He portrayed a soldier in the war in the Pacific during World War 2. And let me tell you it’s definitrely not easy to portray an extremely emotionally disturbed soldier of war, and he pulled it off great! yay thanks for the great news, i’m always coming on this website to find out recent news on the Saga and i can always count on this website to fill me in on all the new info! thanks so much =]
