Entertainment Tonight spoke to Ashley Greene (Alice Cullen) on her new film The Apparition and talked a little bit about the end of Twilight. ET also asked if was going to be ‘weird’ not having her costars around for the Twilight convention or press tour. Ashley said she didn’t have the schedule yet, but there’s going to be a lot of them traveling around.

I really love Ashley with all my heart and always will and I was so very excited for The Apparition but I am kinda sad and disappointed right now. Because the film seems to be not only quite a letdown but also an utter critical failure.

The moviesite rottentomatoes.com collects reviews for films and calculates a score from the amount of good and bad reviews. If a film has more good reviews then its certified “fresh”, if it has more bad reviews then its certified “rotten”. Sure there were movies that I really enjoyed that had been certified rotten by the site but they had at least a score between 30 and 50 %.

However The Apparition so far has a score of 0 (!) % which means that every single review so far for the film has been utterly negative. The critical consensus so far says that the film lacks true scares and ambition or talent in its execution. This deeply saddens me because even if you cant rely entirely on reviews if a film has 0 % and only negative reviews across the board (comingsoon and shocktillyoudrop also gave it a negative review) then it actually must be really bad or at least not very good.

Now I am still going to see it of course, not only to form my own opinion but also because of Ashley whom I will always love and support. But still it hurts and saddens me that her her first major studio film where she plays the lead is apparently such a critical and probably also commercial failure. She deserves so much better than this. And things like this can seriously hurt the career of a young, aspiring actress like Ashley. especially with the Twilight Saga now ending Ashley will now really need something good and big to compensate for this. It really hurts me as someone who loves her so much. Nontheless I will of course always have faith in her and support her and be her loyal fan no matter what happens. And I am sure that she gave her absolute best for this film (which is why it hurts even more that it wont be rewarded properly) but if the script isnt good and the director screws up than there is not much Ashley can do to save the movie.

Like I said I will still watch it, I will buy it and I am sure I will love her performance but I am also realist enough to know that the movie itself wont be very good. No movie that scores 0 % at RT cant possibly be good.

Poor ashley, she deserves so much better with all the passion and hard work she puts into her career.

I really hope that this will not impact her career too much. All the films she did until now had average and good reviews. And now her first movie as a lead actress becomes a critical bomb. I mean 0 % is really some seriously bad stuff. I think I never saw a film in my life with such a bad score before.

What did Todd Lincoln do to this movie?? Ash should certainly avoid working with him again.

Oh well. Plenty of academy award winning actors started out playing in cheesy movies and sitcoms. What matters is she’s getting exposure outside of twilight. I’m proud of her and trust this ONE movie is going to derail her entire career keep hoping and wishing.

We disagree The Apparitions is a failure. At $3750 per location, the real demise resulted in the movie studios choosing to reduce the locations down to 800. At $3750 and 3,500 locations, The Apparition would have finished number #2 this weekend.

The Cabin in the Woods is just as bad of a movie. The Apparition is a decent movie. It has some story structure issues. The supernatural thriller never delves into parapsychology. They spend too much time on relationship development rather on the premise.

If the movie studio does not increase the locations, The Apparition will exit the box office quickly. It will be become a failure in the domestic box office. However, the international box office will recuperate the production budget. The same problem took place with Ann Hathaway’s Passengers.

According to several movie websites, the movie studio put the movie out in the dark. They claim the studio is giving up on the movie. Movie critics never watched a screening.

The real success is the $3750 per location. The movie would have easily finished number #2. A few months ago, box office projections placed the movie at $14 million. However, reducing The Apparition to 800 locations doomed the movie. We were confident the movie would finish number #1. You cant win a box office with 800 locations.

okay now we seriously disagree. First of all I wasnt talking so much about the box office then actually more about the crictical reception for this film which so far has been EXTREMELY negative ( I repeat: 0 % at rottentomatoes). and the movie critics have seen the film by now so they can judge it. But not only the critics also most moviegoers themselves gave very negative feedback so far. That negative feedback and also the negative reviews however are not really about Ashleys performance (which I am sure will be one of the shining elements of this film because she really put intense and hard work into this) but more about the film as a whole and its utterly flawed execution. Apparently script and directing are what hurt the film the most. I am still going to see it though. I dont care how bad it is. As long as Ashley shines in it I´ll be there.

But where I really disagree from the bottom of my heart is what you said about Cabin in the woods. That is a FANTASTIC horrorfilm. One of the best in years. One of the most scary ones too. And unlike the Apparition Cabin received highly positive reviews and moviegoer feedback. Of course you´ll have to be a fan of the classic scary backwood horrorfilms because that is exactly what this film is about. To go back to those days and create a genuine scary (and fun) film like this again (like the famous EVIL DEAD from Sam Raimi which remains unparalleled until this day). The positive reviews and praise for Cabin however didnt surprise me much since my most favorite writer and director Joss Whedon (Buffy, Angel, Avengers, Firefly) co-wrote and produced the film. That film was fun, smart, scary and payed a lot of tribute to the classic 80s backwood horrorfilms. So you cant really compare that to the Apparition. Apparition is getting horrible reviews and feeback among critics and general moviegoers. Cabin however was received very positively.

I mean I wish I could say the same about Apparition cause Ashley would really deserve that for her first major movie as the lead role but I guess for that she would need a better scriptwriter and director. If Whedon had written this thing it would have been much more the kind of film that Ashley and her fans would deserve.
